I listen to a massive amount of music! So I'm going to coin the phrase "The Good,The Bad,& The Ugly" to rate albums or mixtapes. I'm not a critic so I'm only going to state how the album or mixtape spoke to me & how it came across. This week's mixtape is "Tyga:Outraged & Underage" You may know him for that coconut song. See I don't always judge artists by first impressions, cause they try to market themselves and come out with a radio friendly single! If I was to go off first impressions I'd probably would have never listened to this mixtape, but he's a new artist so it intrigues me to see them at they full potential.(Usually with mixtapes artist are able to be themselves and not have to cater to the music industry)
Tyga is signed to Young Money Ent. (which is Lil Wayne's record imprint)& hails from Cali.
So the albums intro has a different approach then others,It starts with this interview with Charles Manson with "Blueprint 2" instrumental setting the background & then Tyga lets some steam off his chest.
Now this isn't your usual mixtape! There is different elements involved, cause after the intro he comes with a completely different approach. With the title "The Window" He comes across more personal & sincere, less outraged. But after that song it's "Breaktime" (feating Lil Wayne) where he proves he not your usual teenie bopper,& shows that he can rhyme with the best without being out shined! Next introduces Amber Melody on "Smoke Dro" where she sings a melody bout my favorite recreation habit. After getting lifted, I hear "You start up again I'ma drop you like a bad habit, YOU HEAR THAT....test tube baby!"which ends up being the intro to....you guessed it "Test Tube Baby" Which is enjoyable to listen to but on the hook he sounds a lil bit like Slim Shady. Now this next track is my favorite, Which is called "Live Forever"
But my other favorite is "Cali Love" where he represents his home. In the hook sayin "Snoop is getting old and pac is really gone but what happened to the Cali love" With that said I'll end on that note! The mixtape is a mixture of genres! & I really enjoyed this mixtape! I feel like he's somebody to watch out for.So keep your eyes peeled for Tyga!
I give this mixtape: THE GOOD!
The Good:An album/mixtape that surpasses my expectations. Something innovative & fresh! Doesn't lack lyrical ability & has strong quality topic concepts.
The Bad: An album/mixtape that met my expectations. Somewhat different but still could of came harder! Not a bad album/mixtape still enjoyable to listen too.
& The Ugly:Didn't come significantly close to my expectation.Ears bleeding!
100% Pure Garbage! Not lyrical at all. STOP! Everyone is not cut out to be an emcee!
Shout outs to the whole Young Money Family(Lil Wayne, Tyga, Drake, Nikki Minaj, Jae Millz,& Mack Maine)Also look out for this mixtape
